Protect trees, shrubs, and gardens by boosting soil microbial activity that suppresses soil-borne diseases. A stronger soil ecosystem fends off plant diseases and pests, giving roots the foundation they need for long-term, resilient growth. Three Premium Products in One

Organic mulch, compost, and soil conditioner.

As a Mulch

Sweet Peet® does more than cover ground. Its dark texture insulates roots against hot summers, locks in moisture, and — unlike synthetic or dyed mulches — actively improves the soil beneath it. No need to remove it at season's end. It breaks down to enrich the soil, improve tilth, encourage beneficial earthworms, and replenish microbes.

Spread a depth of 3–4" around shrubs, garden beds. perennials and trees to prevent compaction, retain moisture, suppress weeds and slowly release nutrients to the root system for healthier, more vigorous plants, while adding protection, beauty, nourishment and growth. This layer is typically enough to suppress weed growth.

For trees, keep it to 2–3" in a ring shape, tapering thinner near the trunk with a few inches of clearance from the bark. Direct contact traps moisture and invites rot.

  • As a compost / soil amendment:

Sweet Peet® feeds your soil, boosts microbial activity, and retains moisture — slowly releasing it to build more resilient gardens and perennials over time. It nurtures root systems, feeding perennials and border plantings for healthier, more vigorous growth.

New plantings: Mix 1 part Sweet Peet with 2-3 parts topsoil or potting soil. For poor, heavy clay conditions, increase the ratio to 1 part Sweet Peet to 1-2 parts soil for best results.

Established gardens and beds: Top-dress with 1-2 inches and reapply during the growing season as needed.

Because it's already composted and cured, it's ready to use immediately.

  • For lawns:

A thin top-dress feeds the soil biology beneath your lawn, helping grass grow deeper roots and bounce back faster from Texas heat and daily wear. Because Sweet Peet® is fully composted, it breaks down fast — feeding established grass without smothering it, or giving new seed the moisture and nutrients it needs to germinate strong.

Existing lawns: Apply a thin ¼–½" layer to boost growth and microbial activity. Spread thinly by hand or with a spreader set to its widest opening.Avoid spreading as thick as to smother the grass. Rake in gently with a leaf rake.

New installs: Work a 1" layer into the soil before seeding, smooth evenly, then top with a thin layer. Use it in place of straw and peat moss for better moisture retention and faster germination.

Unlike synthetic mulches, Sweet Peet improves the soil as it breaks down.
